Generation Change at Lekkerland
Already in 2007 when the Supervisory Board of the Lekkerland AG & Co. KG renewed the contract with their CEO Christian Berner (58), it was agreed to implement the generation change within Lekkerland in 2012. Therefore, beginning of 2012 Christian Berner will resign from his function as CEO of the Lekkerland Group. “This corresponds to my already long planned private life scheme” says Christian Berner.
“The Supervisory Board is very grateful to Christian Berner”, comments Lorenz Bresser, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. When Lekkerland merged with Tobaccoland more than ten years ago, Christian Berner took over the function as Managing Director and he succeeded at building a transparent and efficient organisation out of two different business cultures with a turnover of 6 billion EUR at the time. In 2004 the Lekkerland Group became international and Christian Berner developed the company into a leading convenience specialist in Europe with a sales volume of more than 12 billion EUR and 7.000 employees in 2011. “Christian Berner will hand over Lekkerland as a strategic, future oriented company. He will stay closely connected with Lekkerland even beyond his leaving” says Lorenz Bresser.
After his resignation, Berner will focus more on functions in different supervisory boards and advisory committees.
